Tabaqat (طبقات) is Arabic for “layers”.

The pro photo editor that speaks Arabic

Describe what you want in your own words and the design assistant builds it on your canvas, layer by layer, with Arabic type that joins and carries its diacritics properly. Then change anything you like, or open Photoshop (PSD) files and start from templates for Ramadan, Eid and Saudi National Day.

Opens the editor, where the assistant starts on your request. The assistant is part of Pro, which opens soon; without it, your request waits for you in the editor.

Built for Arabic from the first letter

The professional tools you know, in an editor that understands your language and runs in your browser.

  • Arabic type done right

Letters join as they should, diacritics sit where they belong, and the whole interface works right to left. Nine Arabic fonts are built in, and in Chrome and Edge you can use the fonts installed on your computer.

  • Layers and Photoshop files

Pixel, type, shape and adjustment layers, masks and 16 blend modes. Open PSD and PSB files with their layers, and export to PSD, PNG, JPEG or WebP.

  • AI on your device

Select the main subject in one click, remove a background, or double a picture's resolution. All three run inside your browser, so your picture is never uploaded.

  • Templates for the occasions you design for

Ramadan, Eid, National Day and Founding Day, wedding invitations and graduation congratulations, shop and café posts. Every template is a layered document you can change completely.

  • In the browser, nothing to install

Open the link and start working on Windows, Mac or a Chromebook. Install it as an app from your browser if you like, and it opens even without an internet connection.

  • Your pictures stay with you

The editor runs on your device and keeps recovery copies in your browser. We don't upload or store your pictures; a picture leaves your device only when you use a Pro generative tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tabaqat free?

Yes. The whole editor is free: layers, masks, PSD files, fonts, templates and the AI tools that run on your device. The paid Pro plan (15 SAR a month or 149 SAR a year) adds only the generative tools, and it opens soon.

What is the design assistant?

It builds designs in the editor from your description: write what you want in Arabic or English, and it adds text in Arabic fonts, shapes and pictures as layers in your document, then looks at the result and fixes what needs fixing. It also changes designs you already have, turns a post into a story and uses photos you attach. Each of its steps can be undone with Ctrl+Z. It is part of Pro, and it helps with designs only.

Do I need to install anything or create an account?

No. Open the editor in your browser and start straight away, with no installation and no sign-up. If you like, install it as an app from your browser; after that it opens even without an internet connection.

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. Your pictures open and are processed on your device, recovery copies are kept in your browser, and select subject, remove background and upscale run inside your browser too. The only exception is the Pro generative tools: when you use one, we send the part you are editing with some of the picture around it, or the whole picture if nothing is selected, to Google's image model. We don't store the picture or the result. The same goes for the design assistant: it sends your request and a description of your document, with a small picture of your design when it needs to look at it, to the AI service that runs it, as the privacy policy explains.

Which browser should I use?

Tabaqat works in modern browsers, and we recommend Chrome or Edge on a computer: in them, upscaling runs fast on the graphics card through WebGPU, and you can use the fonts installed on your computer. Where WebGPU is not available, upscaling is slower and limited to small pictures.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The editor adapts to phones and tablets, so you can change a template's text or touch up a picture on the go. For detailed designs, a computer with a mouse and keyboard is more comfortable.

Can it open Photoshop (PSD) files?

Yes. It opens PSD and PSB files with their layers, and exports your work to PSD so you can finish it in Photoshop, or to PNG, JPEG or WebP. Some Photoshop-only effects may look slightly different, so check the file after opening it.

Can I use the templates for commercial work?

Yes. You can use designs you make from the templates in personal and commercial work, such as your shop's posts and adverts, and the built-in fonts are under the SIL Open Font License, which allows this. What you can't do is sell or share the templates themselves as templates.

Have an idea? Tell us

We're building Tabaqat for people who design in Arabic, and we read every suggestion. Ask for a tool, a template or a font, or tell us what got in your way.

Only if you'd like a reply.

We keep your message, and your email if you give one, only to read and answer it. Privacy policy
